1963년 한국에서 태어난 한영욱은 홍익대학교에서 회화 학사와 석사 학위를 받았다. 한영욱은 알루미늄 패널에 하이퍼리얼리즘 양식을 구현하는 독특한 제작 방식을 통해 생생한 인물화를 그린다. 한영욱은 알루미늄 패널을 뾰족한 도구(니들)를 사용하여 패널을 긁어 스캐치한 후 물감으로 채색하는 방식을 반복하며 인물화와 동물화를 그린다. 특히 눈동자, 피부 주름, 머리카락과 같은 부분이 부각되어 있는데, 이는 단순히 감각적 쾌감을 전하는 것이 아니라 감상자의 감정과 정신적 에너지를 불러일으키기 위해 의도된 것이다. 아이와 동물의 얼굴에서 전달되는 순수한 감정, 아름다운 여인의 얼굴에서 느낄 수 있는 생의 찰나, 노인의 얼굴에서 읽을 수 있는 평온함과 고단함 등, 한영욱의 회화는 외양을 통해 우리의 내면에 잠재된 보편적인 감정과 정서를 환기시킨다. 섬세한 묘사력과 표현성이 두드러진 한영욱의 대형 인물화는 현실적이면서도 비현실적인 매우 독특한 분위기를 자아낸다. 이러한 한영욱만의 조형언어는 국내를 비롯하여 아트 마이애미(Art Miami), 아트 센트럴 홍콩(Art Central Hong Kong), 아트 타이페이(Art Taipei) 등에서 꾸준히 주목을 받은 바 있다.

Born in South Korea in 1963, Han Young Wook received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in painting from Hongik University. Han is known for his unique approach to hyperrealism, creating vivid portraits on aluminum panels. His technique involves scratching the panel with a sharp tool (needle) to sketch, and then applying paint, a process he repeats to produce his portrait and animal works.

Particularly emphasized are details like eyes, skin wrinkles, and hair, not merely for sensory pleasure but to evoke the viewer's emotions and mental energy. Han's paintings bring forth universal emotions and feelings through the depiction of pure emotions in children's and animals' faces, the fleeting beauty in women's faces, and the tranquility and weariness in elderly faces. His large-scale portraits, marked by meticulous detail and expressive quality, create a uniquely realistic yet surreal atmosphere. Han Young Wook’s distinctive visual language has garnered consistent attention both domestically and internationally, including at Art Miami, Art Central Hong Kong, and Art Taipei.
